Back to the homeland of South Florida: Miami.
It’s just that I usually come later, like summertime, but since my boi London Fletcher invited me down I decided to join the festivities.
The Pro Bowl game was cool – London had some plays out there being the middle backer he is … lol. The tempo was really chill this year unlike other years. I counted like 5 run plays total for the game you could tell they weren't trying to get anybody hurt ... My highlight was I was at my first NFL game as a fan … lol.
Lots of yelling and cheering and fights in the crowd and of course ignoring the really drunk guy besides me bothering me to death about people’s names and from what college they went to ... Hey, plz, just go a buy a program already!!!!! Good thing he left after halftime.
Overall, a very cool experience. In the near future I’ll be in it!!!!
Well, I have to get back to this nice food out here – top-of-the-line steaks and Cuban foods!!!!!! Check in with you all in a few... out.

That’s All, Folks
Written by Rocky McIntosh / January 18, 2010
Wowow … so the season is over. There’s lots of uncertainties with the team, and of course, with me ... The team part has been coming along slowly but surely in the past few weeks. As for me, it’s just a waiting game and in the hands of God now.
Until then, I'm trying to kick back and relax, enjoy the offseason. Enjoying my family to the fullest … Gotta have some fun in the sun somewhere in the Southern hemisphere – with Jet Skis and some mojitos, traveling to some place other than Miami. LOL, always there. Can't help it … it's the "U" in me.
What else … hmmmm Oh, get my body right even though this is the best I’ve felt in years. I held up pretty well from delivering, chopping, and throwing that wood at guys. Translation: Knocking everybody out in a different colored jersey than mine.
Well, like my favorite Looney Tunes folks say: "That's all, folks."

Candy Canes to Hurricanes
Written by Rocky McIntosh / December 26, 2009
Merry Christmas to all you out there! Hope it was great and you were able to spend quality time with your families as I did.
This team has definitely has its shares of ups and downs this season. Beating Oakland felt good and then we immediately went downhill against the Giants. That was one of the all-time lows. We have beaten the Giants only once since I've been here, and for us to play that poorly was sickening.
I don't know what to say about the team's trials this season, except I'm ready to fast-forward into next year. We have a chance to redeem ourselves against the Cowboys, and I hope that this team can again show what we are built of. Finishing the season strong and being able to hold our heads up high is vital at this point.
Go Hurricanes! Beat Wisconsin this Tuesday in the Champs Sports Bowl!

Two-Minute Cursed
Written by Rocky McIntosh / December 6, 2009
This season has been absolutely crazy. Looking on the bright side, our team has looked more complete these last couple of weeks. It is the worst feeling in the world to play your guts out and then get to the end of the game and not be able to finish. Riding back from playing the Saints I just couldn't figure out why we didn't win that game. It almost feels like we have a two-minute curse. And the music at the stadium sure didn't help either.
One day of dwelling on it and then we all have to move forward and focus on the Raiders.
Going to be busy the next several weeks with charity events as Christmas approaches. Giving back to the community and kids will be something positive to focus on instead of what's going on with the team.
For those of you guys that showed up in the cold today, thanks for your support and know that we'll continue to press on. True character is always revealed during times of adversity.

Nice to Get a W
Written by Rocky McIntosh / November 18, 2009
Finally a W after several weeks of losing. Sure felt good to win and also to put that hit on Brandon Marshall. Got to see my boy D.J. Williams with his Mohawk. I'm pretty positive our offense worked him over pretty good because I saw him lying on his back a few times. Looking forward to Sunday against the Cowboys and we should be good to go if the same team shows up that beat the Broncos.
The íCanes loss was disappointing though. I had high hopes for those boys. One of my Redskins teammates asked me why our mascot was a duck. First I had to give him a beat down and then a school lesson about the ibis and its relationship to hurricanes. It's been said that the ibis is the last to take shelter before a hurricane and the first to return after the storm. Check out www.miami.edu for more on that.
Can't wait to check out the Wizards vs. Cavs Wednesday night. I'm a Wizards supporter but we have a guy on the team from Cleveland (not going to name any names) who is all about the Cavs. Sure hope Fletch can get his autographed LeBron shoes after the game.

Losing Out of Control
Written by Rocky McIntosh / November 10, 2009
I'm going to start out today focusing on the positive, which is that the ’Canes are really putting things together. Started off a little slow and then took off scoring every way possible. They can score at will but the D needs to pick it up. These boys are really bringing things back and trying to return us to championship form.
Now for the Redskins ... This losing every week is really getting out of control. Got my first pick of the season and ran it back 20 yards while the 3 DBs around me kept asking for me to pitch it back to them. Not being able to run it back was disappointing though because our team needs all the points we can get. Hoping that the Broncos loss last night can send them into some sort of downward spiral and that combined with the altitude change will start putting some things into our favor.
Going to an event later today where we'll be battling our troops overseas in Guitar Hero. Just want to send out a salute to all of those in our Armed Forces and thank you to Veterans as well for fighting for this country. My thoughts and prayers are with all of those affected by the Ft. Hood tragedy. I have family that works on that base and am just thankful that my loved ones are OK.

Refocusing
Written by Rocky McIntosh / November 1, 2009
Tried to use this week as an opportunity to refocus and rest at this point mid-season. Got to catch up on sleep and spend some time with my family. Watching a couple games right now: Baltimore vs. Denver and Philly vs. Giants. Trying to scout out the comp and do something big against the teams we have upcoming.
Glad UM was able to pull it off in another nail-biter Saturday against Wake Forest. Hopefully they can keep up the momentum and come up on top of the ACC this season.
Not going to spend too much time talking. We have to go out there on the field and prove what we're made of. Fix the glitches and move on. It's frustrating but harping on that won't help.

Hyped for Monday Night
Written by Rocky McIntosh / October 21, 2009
Did an appearance Monday night at Phillips Restaurant in Rockville that was a pretty cool time. It was nice seeing fans show up despite the miserable loss on Sunday to Kansas City. This team wants to turn things around, but it seems like no one has any answers.
Hopefully our D can come up with some points this Monday night against Philly. I get so hyped up for night games and the atmosphere that goes along with it. The morning of, I love having some waffles at the team hotel. The build-up and anticipation to kick-off really gets a lot of guys amped up.
UM takes on Clemson (the school I almost went to) at home so look for them to stomp all over those Tigers this weekend. The "U" keeps moving on up week after week. Just keeps getting better and better. LOL
Flu update: My daughter did end up having the flu, but thankfully it was a very mild case and she is already over it. She's already back to her normal self bouncing around all over the place. Gonna check out some haunted houses this weekend and see if any of them can scare some life into us.

No Answers Here
Written by Rocky McIntosh / October 14, 2009
Another tough week as we were unable to hold a 15-point lead to beat the Panthers. Folks, I don't have any answers for you. I truly believe that we are a better team than this. I just hope that we can turn it around before it's too late. The facility is becoming a somber place to report to daily. We gotta get our swag back!
Had some Gaffney boys from the football team come up for the game, though. Nice to be able to encourage the young dudes trying to make it out there.
Well at least the ’Canes are on a roll. Ranked No. 9 and getting prepared to head up to Orlando and beat UCF. Thankful that they give me something to look forward to every week.
On another note, all this swine flu/flu season stuff is starting to stress me out. My kid's babysitter just called saying that her nephew has swine flu, so first thing in the morning my kids have to go get checked out. Kids and germs are no joke! My house is loaded up with hand sanitizer everywhere … gotta stay healthy!

Live in the Moment
Written by Rocky McIntosh / October 8, 2009
We got the “W” last Sunday. It felt good to get the job done even if it was a close one. We should be able to build on this momentum knowing that the team is capable of coming back for the win.
It was cool seeing my boy Kellen Winslow Jr. I always relish the opportunity to get out there against those boys from the "U". This week we take it down to N.C., where we'll see former teammate Jon Beason. I'll also have a whole bunch of family at this game, being that it's so close to South Carolina.
Glad the Hurricanes pulled off a close one last week! They looked pretty good in that photo-finish win last Saturday night. I wish I could get down there to one of their games this season. Have to see where they are playing during my bye week.
On a serious note, my wife's 15-year-old cousin, Chantice Caruth, passed away unexpectedly last Wednesday. Our family would appreciate all your prayers and support for this loss. Once again it reminds us live in the moment and be doing your best at all times.
You just never know ...

A Rough One
Written by Rocky McIntosh / October 3, 2009
Been a rough one in the nation's capital this week. While it's understood we can't win ’em all, everyone on the team was deeply disappointed about last Sunday's loss. We've been working hard all week though, and are ready for Tampa this Sunday. I'm gonna be covering my boy K2, so you know it's going to be on!
Was also a bad week for Hurricane fans. That V-Tech game was brutal last week. I really hope the ’Canes are gonna step up against Oklahoma and really do their thing. We have to get back to our former glory.
Make sure to check me out in pink cleats and gloves in this Sunday's game. It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and many of the guys will be wearing some pink gear in support. Most of us have had a loved one affected by this in some way so it's great that a lot of the guys are stepping up to do this.
Hopefully we won't disappoint the fans this week. Stay tuned!

Defense Rocked the Rams |
Written by Rocky McIntosh / September 21, 2009
Well folks, the season is officially in full gear. Last week was a rough one in the Meadowlands with the team trying to get into a good rhythm. Enjoyed seeing some family while I was in N.Y. before the game. They get a little carried away sometimes with trying to figure out what they're doing in terms of tickets (are they bringing this person or that person?). I tell them just to keep it simple and don’t stress me with all the changes.
Best part of my week was the Hurricanes returning to their glory as they beat Georgia Tech 33-17. Their AP ranking is No. 9 and I couldn't be happier. Hoped VTech would lose Saturday, but we'll be ready for them this coming Saturday. Those young linebackers are looking good. Don’t know all the players there anymore … but once a Cane, always a Cane!
Defense rocked it against the Rams … So glad we were able to pull one out. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint so if we can build upon what we’re doing week-by-week we will be in good shape.
Fans, cut us some slack with the booing. We like constructive criticism but we also need your support to make it through the season.
Biggest highlight of today: The switch to Famous Dave’s in the tent post-game. Really enjoyed those ribs and cornbread!
Just going to spend the rest of the night chillin’ and watching more football to check out the comp. Gotta get that early reconnaissance in. Get back with ya’ll next week!

UM Wins, Day Off, Giants |
Written by Rocky McIntosh / September 8, 2009
Wow! What a wonderful night: The UM Hurricanes won in the last play – like last second – on their like 3-yard line … I could barely watch but a win is a win and they did it in Tally. FSU and the rest of Leon County, sorry
As soon as the clock at Jacksonville hit 00:00 at our final preseason it was time to move on to the Giants, – excuse ... N.Y. Football Giants. Don't know about that but they have been doing well the last couple of years. We’re looking forward to a great season also and it starts with them. So I'm putting on my hardhat and going to get it done one game at a time.
Funny quote from last week’s game: "Jack Del Rio calling out Fred Smoot for doing UFC moves out there when he blasted Maurice Jones-Drew."
Got the day off so family time and relaxation. Gotta have it.

Technically training camp is over but kind of doesn't feel like it yet. Still 2 more preseason games the patriots and jaguars ... We're really going to have to put in good work against the Pats. They're an excellent team that doesn't make many mistakes. Against the Jaguars we get to rest a little and let the pups (rookies) get in and DO WORK ...
Camp was good ... had about 40 practices ... each one included a push 'n' shuffle, coaches yelling, people making plays and guys getting plays made on them, and almost always included good jokes courtesy of Fred Smoot....
I don't know what the Chargers have going on but our food was good!!!!!!!!!! exclamation everywhere – from breakfast to dinner always yummy. Gained about 5 pounds eating. Yessssss! Extra armor.
Special thank you to all the fans who showed up rain and shine and thanks to the rookies for carrying my helmet and pads after practice. Hey, it's a tradition and a right of passage ... They are def not there yet and my boy B from Texas has a lot to do (steak dinner, hint, hint) ...
One highlight of camp would have been our annual rookie show, which was canceled and maybe outlawed by our new head coach Jim Zorn who is not a big fan of any kind of hazing. We still have our blessed ugly man award, and dead man suit award shows (past awards winners are still currently on the team but I'm not going to tell, lol)
Aww man very tired ... I got my 2 kids attacking me as soon as I get in the door ... Lots of work, but hey, what can I say ...
Off to the annual Redskins banquet ... sitting at a table of 20 unknown people, probably with business and personal income way more than mine and I'm trying to entertain them. I hope I can switch tables and sit by people I already know and hope the time goes by fast...

Live from Training Camp |
Written by Rocky McIntosh / August 7, 2009
Wow a week is now in the books. Training camp has been really smooth, can't say it's been too much fun because we’re not allowed to haze the rookies :( – Coach Zorn’s request.
One highlight was doing a photo shoot for Monday Night Football. I don't know how to explain it but those poses and action shots were the bomb, now I just have to make plays so they will "Q" them up…
Body is doing well with the 2 a day practices we have plus late night meetings which are crazy because everybody in the room has like one eye open looking at the projector like every play looks exactly the same...
The big guys get the most love because some days their off while the rest of us are outside practicing, oh well...
Def looking forward to the weeks ahead with preseason games getting ready to start-up and the action and play is only going to get exciting and tougher...
Thanks to all the fans showing up rain or shine we really appreciate it.

My dogs are killing me they want so much attention they have way tooooooooo much energy.....
that's all that's going on now..... No stories so far..... Building up to the season working out API is killing me already might have to turn it down a little trying to win this marathon not the race.... Football jargon.... Besides seeing the different types of roadkill on my way to work totally different from Virginia.....here I’ve seen an armadillo, possum, racoons, and the occasional squirrel......Virginia is just deer everywhere every morning....
No big plans for the fourth going to the beach where they take a big barge load it up full of fireworks and shoot them off a few miles out from the beach might try to avoid blowing one of my fingers off and buy some of my own LOL

Welcome to my Blog
Written by Rocky McIntosh / June 11, 2009
Hey, everybody, welcome to my blog. I’m looking forward to keeping all of you in touch with what goes on in my day-to-day life.
Right now, we’re in OTAs, getting ready for the season. Our day starts at 7 a.m. and goes until about 1:30-2. We come in, eat breakfast, go to a special teams meeting and then to individual meetings. We get dressed and go out on the field for about an hour and a half, then it’s back in for weight training. It doesn’t sound like a lot of time out on the field, but it does when you’re out there.
I’ve got a little chip on my shoulder after the way we finished last season. We had a little letdown at the end of last season and we know we have to keep focused all season and finish better as a team.
